Fiberweb Geosynthetics acquires Tubex

NEW ACQUISITION PROVIDES FIBERWEB GEOSYNTHETICS WITH
GROWTH AND EXPANSION OPPORTUNITIES IN TREE PROTECTION

The recent acquisition of Tubex by Fiberweb plc, has shaped a compelling new global proposition in the field of silviculture and tree protection for the Forestry, Viticulture, Landscaping and Fruit Growing industries.

Tubex is one of the leading European producers of tree shelters and the company’s area of expertise includes forestry, agronomy, agriculture, fruit and horticulture. Tubex offers a wide range of specialist products designed to improve the establishment of young plants and promote growth, protecting young trees and samplings from elements such animals, the environment and herbicides.

Bringing this South Wales based operation into the Fiberweb group is highly complementary to Fiberweb’s existing tree shelter business – Acorn. The combined history of product innovation, experience and knowledge bank of the two businesses gives Fiberweb a platform from which to develop new markets whilst offering existing customers enhanced service through streamlining operations and manufacturing economies.

Future plans include relocation of some of the manufacturing plant from the integrated Tubex and Acorn business to Fiberweb’s existing plant in Old Hickory, Nashville to support the Tubex and Fiberweb operations in the US by providing manufacturing capability located within a market identified for development.

Tubex has been at the forefront of shelter development since the first research into tree shelters came into fruition in the early 1980s. A dynamic and forward thinking organisation, the organisation has a strong emphasis on research and development with a sound environmental policy. The Tubex brand is now recognised worldwide as one representing quality of product and service

John Warner, President Fiberweb Geosynthetics commented:

“This acquisition is an exciting enhancement to our Geosynthetics division. It will help the business not only diversify but expand its customer base as well as adding value to existing customers through a significantly expanded product portfolio”

“This is a strategic move in our organisation’s ongoing customer-focused growth strategy. Pooling resources as well as combining viticulture, forestry and landscaping expertise will give us a deeper understanding of our customers needs and allow us to offer an improved service. It will enhance our technical knowledge, open up more routes to international markets and significantly expand our specialist product range.”
