Boddingtons assisted artists Gaia Alessi and Richard
Bradbury to create Superconductor 160607. A huge,
temporary maze-like structure, designed specifically
for the former Twyford factory site on the Isle of
Sheppey Made from scaffolding and specially produced
magenta-pink fencing mesh. Measuring 30m x 30m Superconductor
160607 consisted of a complex system of chambers
and passages for visitors to roam and explore.

In the summer of 2005, Superconductor was first
created utilising Boddingtons' Euromesh Orange
Fencing. Built in the middle of Trafalgar Square,
London for the national launch of Architecture
Week, it was a great success. When invited
to re-create the work for Queenborough and Rushenden
on the Isle of Sheppey, the artists wanted to respond
with a new work that was unique and particular
to that environment, pushing the concept one step
further. Boddingtons were approached and asked
to make a unique and unusual variation to their
widely used Euromesh Fencing. The artists selected
a specific shade of magenta-pink that they believed
would create the perfect structure.
Boddingtons
manufactured the artists' requirements exactly
and ensured delivery well in advance to ensure
the attraction opened on time.
Superconductor 160607
received excellent reviews and was featured on
TV and in national press. Emma Underhill, Director
of UP Projects who organized the event said "We
had a really good turn out and positive feedback
despite picking one of the rainiest weeks in June.
The Superconductor maze looked really dramatic
against the rain-clouds! The pink mesh certainly
attracted a lot of attention."
