Blokroot™ provides a barrier against tree root penetration. It is ideal to protect buildings, paths, drainage pipes, cables and lawns from the damage caused by the growth of tree roots. Tree roots grow very close to the surface spreading out over a large area. They can lift, move and crack structures both in the ground and on the surface.

Blokroot™ is manufactured from a thermally bonded non-woven Polyethylene/Polypropylene.

Blokroot™ is permeable and allows drainage to pass through its walls, but will channel tree roots away from areas that require protection.

Blokroot™ can be installed over the area that needs protection approximately 1 metre deep thus deflecting the roots to deeper soil. If protecting drainage pipes or cables, the Blokroot™ can be wrapped under the service and the trench can then be backfilled – this will ensure that the roots cannot get round the pipe or cable.


Blokroot™ can also be installed vertically as a root barrier to protect wall structures,
foundations and paths.

Roots can cause severe damage to pavements and roads that have no prevention system.

Non-permeable Blokroot™ Plus is available coated with a high density polyethylene
sheet on one side, further adding to its strength and resistance to root penetration.
