BST Longline Oyster System
 

The BST Adjustable Longline Oyster system is an innovative farming system that enables the farmer to manage his oysters more efficiently, producing a much better oyster. BST Long-line oyster system is an adjustable system of oyster mesh bags, with the heart of the system being the use of high tensile nylon lines clipped to post supports to support the specially designed mesh baskets manufactured by Boddingtons.

These bags are free to move in the currents and can easily be adjusted for height. The ability to easily raise and lower the lines of baskets enables the farmer to have a management technique to control shell growth, condition and clean with a rumbling action for sale presentation.
The mesh bags are secured at either end to a snap-fit hinged 'End Cap'.

This helps reduce oyster loss by giving a positive, easy seal and reduces labour time when closing the bags. The system is designed to minimise handling as the baskets can easily be unclipped directly onto a boat and taken directly to grading and rapidly returned to the lines with minimum manpower.

The oysters grow rapidly in the BST system and it is expected that they will reach market size in European conditions in no more than 18 months, which is half the time in the current bag and trestle system. Boddingtons manufacture the mesh bags in 4 standard sizes to fit easily into the end caps :
